Kayaking and Creativity: Paddling, Poems and Pictures
A journey by water exploring the River Plym estuary.
Join film-makers, Kayla Parker and Stuart Moore, in the dome to see their new 360 film, Flow + Cadence, exploring the marine environment of the River Plym estuary.
Kayla and Stuart will talk about the film they made with 360 technology, using kayaks to capture unique ‘all round’ views of this historic tidal waterway to the east of the port city of Plymouth.
Travel with them on their journey by water as they explore Hooe Lake to the south east of the lower Plym estuary, known as the Cattewater, and cruise past a huge fuel tanker moored at Cattedown Wharfs, under Laira Bridge and along the upper Plym estuary to the saltmarsh of Saltram, then paddle beneath the railway line at Marsh Mills, and beyond through the woods of Plymbridge, with an excursion up the Tory Brook that once took sailing ships to the heart of Plympton.
Also, you’ll see animated images and poems that capture the essence of the kayaking experience and memories of the sea, made by participants of the Kayaking and Creativity workshop at the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre.
This event is free and suitable for audiences of all ages.
