Local Pollinator Conservation group Pollenize CIC successfully raised over £75, 000 for their Seeds For Schools Project. A scheme that will equip every school child in Plymouth with a FREE packet of their wildflower seeds (approximately 36,000 students).
In April, Pollenize will be delivering the seed packets along with other educational resources to all 82 schools across the city. To celebrate World Earth Day on the 22nd April 2022 they are also launching the city’s first-ever mass sowing event.
The aim of this project is to engage the younger generation in pollinator conservation and increase forage and habitats for all pollinators! Children will be able to log their sowing coordinates onto an interactive rewilding map on the Pollenize website, which will contribute to important citizen science research.
Pollenize is working with a wide range of local organisations to maximise the impact of this unique city-wide campaign, including Real Ideas. This will feature a new immersive 360 dome experience which will be taking place at the Market Hall for the duration of the Easter break.
Join us to colour in your very own wildflower and to see them come alive in the immersive dome and re-wild our virtual city with green spaces and wildlife. As more flowers emerge, bees, insects and other pollinators will begin to thrive!
