The last 12 months have been like nothing we could have ever expected in our lifetimes, and we have all been affected in one way or another. Hospitality, one of the biggest industries in Cornwall, has been one of the hardest hit, and it has caused chaos!!
However, one thing that we do know is that when restrictions start to ease and hospitality businesses are allowed to open again- Cornwall is going to be Busy (with a capital B)!
In preparation for this, many hospitality businesses are starting to recruit NOW! This is so that their teams are ready for the start of a very busy season- as soon as they get the go-ahead from the government.
In the last 2 days, I have seen many adverts for front of house staff, restaurant supervisors, hotel receptionists, and kitchen staff all over the county, but particularly in the traditional tourist hot spots such as Newquay, Padstow, St Ives, and Perranporth.
If you are keen to work in the hospitality industry, now is the time to start applying for roles and making sure that you have maximised your skills. Businesses will be planning to conduct interviews and get people into jobs, with online inductions or basic training completed as soon as possible. So when they are allowed to open, their teams are in place and ready to go.
The weekly food and hospitality-based sessions with Gamechanger are a great opportunity to improve your cooking skills, learn about the industry, get your food safety qualification under your belt and perfect your customer service skills. Not only will you have increased your skills set, but you are also showing a potential employer that you have made the most of your time in recent months.
