Due to the ongoing challenges of Covid-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Illuminate light festival, planned for November. The spectacular light festival, which transforms Royal William Yard through light art installations and projection mapping, will now take place on 18th – 21st February 2021.
We explored all sorts of ways to make the festival as safe as possible, but in the end have decided that the potential risk to our visitors, artists and crew is too high to responsibly go ahead as planned in November 2020. In times of such unprecedented uncertainty, postponement is our only viable option.
Whilst we are obviously disappointed that we won’t be delivering the event in November, we also see this as an opportunity – to create a spectacular audience experience in the spring time and further our work supporting established, emerging and student artists, which are at the core of the festival.
Illuminate plays a significant role in Plymouth’s creative economy, creating work opportunities for the city’s creative talent as well as delivering a spectacular audience experience which is loved by audiences annually.
We’ll continue to monitor government guidance closely and work with our fantastic team and local partners to ensure the next Illuminate is a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
We are very excited to have some great lightworks coming – look out for announcements over the next few months and put the February dates in your diary!
