Government stats suggest 1.9 million people in the UK have no access to the internet. With most of the places with public access computers – libraries, job centres and community centres – closed as a result of the lockdown, there are millions of people for whom accessing aid, applying for Universal Credit, learning online or connecting with friends and loved ones is simply not possible.
To help solve this problem and create an opportunity for people to get online, we are opening the doors of both the Devonport Guildhall and our offices at 26 Fore Street in Liskeard every Thursday.
If you or someone you know needs to access aid, make a universal credit application, do some online learning or just wantsto connect with friends and family, then please make use of our facilities – it’s completely free to do so and there’s no need to book.
In line with government guidelines, we’ll be following all social distancing guidance to ensure that you are kept safe whilst using our buildings and computers. Be rest assured that antibacterial wipes, hand washing facilities and sanitisers will be available at both locations.
Those who need to can join us from 10am – 1pm every Thursday.
