Carolyn Hassan Non Executive Director

Carolyn is the founder and Director of Knowle West Media responsible for the overall strategy and management of the organisation. Her role is to develop external relationships and partnership working, as well as to oversee the performance of the team and the design and delivery of the overall programme. Carolyn reports to the board of Trustees on a six weekly basis.

In 2009 The University of the West of England awarded her an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts in recognition of her outstanding contribution to community cohesion, social justice and support for schools and colleges in the local community.

Carolyn is a member of the RSA and up until June 2013 was a member of the Regional Arts Council.

She began working in Knowle West over 18 years ago as photographer in residence with a local community organisation, looking at the relationship between arts and wellbeing, and the role that media arts can play in communities.
