A world-class space for digital
Once refurbished the Market Hall will be a world-class space for creative, digital and immersive experiences, situated in the heart of historic Devonport, Plymouth.
The Market Hall will be home to an awe-inspiring 15m immersive dome as well as providing space for people to innovate, create, work, learn and have fun!
The impressive new extension to the historical building will host the 15m diameter immersive dome – inspired by the dome at SAT in Montreal and the first of its kind in Europe – invites you to explore immersive realities, without the need for a VR headset, opening up a world of incredible creative and immersive experiences.
The ground floor of the historic building will be home to a large co-working space offering a mix of high and low desks, lounge seating and digital screens as well as utilising flexible partitions to reconfigure spaces for events and digital experiences.
Upstairs will offer more co-working, meeting spaces, two event spaces – which can be opened to one large space – making them ideal for workshops and teaching – that can all be accessed via the Real Ideas membership.
As with all our buildings, there will be a café and outside seating offering a simple food and drink offer to visitors and members, situated just outside the dome room.
The project is led by Real Ideas in partnership with Plymouth City Council, the Institute of Digital Arts and Technology (i-DAT) at Plymouth University, City College Plymouth, Devonport High School for Boys and has received support from Arts Council England, DCMS and ERDF funding.
**The development has been delayed due to COVID, but we are hoping to open week of 8th March 2021. Stay tuned to our website and social feeds for more on the Market Hall opening as details and dates are confirmed.**
