Open Studio Installation - TechnoHeritage Printmaking

27th May 2022 to 17th June 2022 Ocean Studios Event Print In Action
Book Now

From the 23rd May to the 19th of June, Real Ideas Member Matt Holmes will be transplanting his work and practice into the Ocean Studios cafe space, where it will form an “open studio installation”, consisting of a mixture of static displays and live demonstrations in an open working space.

A number of printmakers and artists will be visiting to experiment with the tools and processes out on show throughout the weeks.

When: Matt will be working in the space during most Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, so feel free to pop along, watch the work underway, have a chat and perhaps even have a go!

Where: The Cafe at Ocean Studios. If you turn up on a day that Matt isn't there, you'll still be able to explore his 'studio' including artwork created during his time in the space.

Timings: Although Matt will be around most Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays in cafe opening hours, sometimes he will be working on different projects. You can select the booking below on Fridays between 10am – 2pm, to make sure you can definitely have a play!

Matt’s practice forms a link between modern digital technology and heritage craft practices. He has taken the traditional processes of letterpress printmaking, and remediated them with new techniques such as 3D printing, Laser cutting and CNC machining to create and imagine an entirely new set of tools, informed by the past but with a modern interpretation.

Please note this a free opportunity to explore an artists practice, ask questions and experience demonstrations.
