Mothers Day Fused Glass

Ocean Studios Performing & Visual Arts
Mother’s Day Fused glass taster

In this fun fused glass taster session, you will make a beautiful spring-inspired fused glass picture which can also make a unique and thoughtful Mother’s Day present which will last forever (unlike a bouquet of flowers!) You will use pre-cut glass, coloured glass granules, stringer and other glass accessories to make a unique 10cm x 10cm picture that can be framed or hung in a sunny spot (or given as a thoughtful gift) or you can also buy a beautiful oak stand for your piece at the class. Your fused glass picture might be a realistic landscape of spring flower meadow or flower arrangement for example or an abstract picture inspired by spring colours and sunshine.

Annette Daly, a professional glass maker and tutor will be on hand to give you demonstrations, advice and guidance to help bring your ideas to life in glass. Although glass cutting is not required for this short session, if you want to learn how to cut glass, Annette will give a demonstration and you can have a go at this fun skill.

Run in a stunning Grade 1 listed building in Royal William Yard, this course is suitable for both adults and children (from 5 years +) and no previous experience of glass is required. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. (Accompanying adults can either book their own space and make their own glass picture or come along for free and just supervise their child/children).

Don’t worry if you are not particularly arty, fused glass is a very forgiving medium and even people who don’t consider themselves ‘arty’ can get fantastic results on this taster course. There will also be examples and ideas to give you inspiration.

Your glass picture will be fired in a specialist glass kiln after the course and will be available to collect from Ocean Studios a week or so later or it can be posted to you (postage costs are not included in the course fee but are charged at cost).

The course will be run in a small group to ensure lots of individual attention and is subject to a minimum number of people attending. If less than the minimum number sign up to this workshop, you will be offered the chance to transfer to another session or will be offered a full refund of the course fee.

Venue: Please enter through the Ocean Studios café and sign in with one of the hosts at the café counter there. They will direct you up to the workshop
