A rich collection of images, personal narrative, sculpture and more, created by people with Lived Experience including mental health and associated issues (ie domestic violence, discrimination, homelessness, isolation…)

Each piece contains a message to those with the power to change the ways in which vulnerable and marginalised people are treated and viewed, and aims to inform, inspire and influence service-providers, commissioners, local leaders and anyone interested in a more effective, compassionate and equitable society.

When booking to see the exhibition, you're welcome to drop in and visit at any point during cafe opening hours.

This exhibition and supporting events have been created by Hope in the Heart CIC with city-wide partners in collaboration with Real Ideas.

Travel Information

Ocean Studios, The Factory Cooperage, Royal William Yard, Plymouth PL1 3RP.

We are an environmentally conscious organisation and encourage our visitors to prioritise green travel. Please consider getting the bus, cycling or walking to visit us. There are plenty of space for bikes within Royal William Yard to and lots of options to utilise public transport. More information on bus routes and car parks nearby can be found here –

If you do need to drive to attend your event then there are lots of pay and display spaces available.

When arriving at Royal William Yard you’ll need to look out for signage to Factory Cooperage, Ocean Studios can be found just a few meters away from the red telephone box situated opposite the Club House. Please enter the building via the courtyard space and through the glass doors.

When leaving the building at night please be respectful and consider residents living nearby.


Ocean Studios has an accessible entrance however some areas are uneven due to heritage restrictions. We have worked hard to create an accessible building, Ocean Studios has accessible toilet facilities and lift access to upper floors. Blue badge parking is available throughout the Royal William Yard – please advise us of any additional needs so we can make your visit enjoyable and comfortable.

Heritage Restrictions
Whilst we work to ensure the building is fully accessible to all, we are limited by the heritage building and land in which we work. The listed building and historic location have certain constraints which unfortunately we cannot avoid or adapt.

Where possible we have improved accessibility however please be aware that areas of Royal William Yard and our buildings has uneven ground and narrow steps with may limit access to wheelchairs and prams. For further information please contact us or whilst visiting Ocean Studios please speak to a member of staff.

Additional Information

Arrival and admission
Please make sure you have your ticket to hand ready for check-in. We cannot guarantee entry into the event for late arrivals.

This ticket gives you entry to the experience named on your ticket.

We are asking everyone to wear masks whilst in our spaces, including during dome shows, and to take lateral flow tests ahead of their visit. Please do not visit our spaces if you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or if you have a positive lateral flow or PCR test. Should you need to change or amend your tickets to a Real Ideas event due to contracting COVID or needing to self-isolate please email [email protected] where one of our team will be able to assist you.
