March Junior Intro to Clay DRAFT
Get creative this fun clay workshop for children!
Suitable for all ages but loosely aimed at 5 – 11 year olds
Where: Ocean Studios, Making Table
Timings: 2-4pm
What is intro to Clay?
Fun, games and therapeutic approaches through clay, exploration and experimentation with the medium of clay and printing and drawing with it too. Also looking at the theory, history and the understanding of clay as part of nature and a resource directly from the earth. With the opportunity and technical support to develop your own ideas and an option to get what you make fired and keep forever, or for a special gift.
Can we get any items made fired?
Absolutely, we are happy to fire and glaze your items if you you’d like to. This is not essential but if you did wish to follow this process, there would be an additional charge of £2 per item given to the facilitator on the day.
Firing is a process where raw clay get’s ‘fired’ in a big kiln and turns into a ceramic piece, which can then have glazes to colour or change the characteristics of the pot.
The firing process will be linked with The Pottery at Ocean Studios.
Cost: £7.50 per child

– This workshop is suitable for beginner and those who just want to have a play or a refresh
– A chance to learn a new skillset, including historical and natural context to support the creative clay journey
– Materials are included, the facilitators do accept donations for materials on the day
