The Real Ideas Organisation’s Social Enterprise Qualification has been featured on Match of the Day! RIO entered into a unique partnership with Aston Villa Football Club, as the global qualification was used to in their Social Enterprise Academy, to help teach 14-16 year olds essential business skills in an enterprising context. The programme linked business to football, and young people from secondary schools in Birmingham learned the fundamental skills needed to manage a football club, which included developing worthwhile skills in management, marketing and promotion, sales and working as part of a team.
The SEQ fit perfectly into the programme, as the hands-on qualification gives people the opportunity to create a social enterprise project and gain these valuable enterprise skills.
The qualification, developed in partnership with SFEDI Awards, accredits social enterprise learning and has also been used in schools both in the UK and abroad, in youth centres, and most recently in prisons, demonstrating its flexibility across a range of organisations.
