RIO welcomes Minister for Civil Society during South West visit

By 19th January 2015 No Comments

Minister for Civil Society Rob Wilson visited the South West on Thursday 14th January as part of his trip to explore social enterprise and meet with successful social enterprises.

RIO was fortunate enough to receive a visit from the Minister, who spent some time with members of the RIO team at their Liskeard social enterprise hub.

As a South-West based social enterprise with global reach, RIO is a good example of what a successful social enterprise looks like. They also had an opportunity to talk to the Minister about the Engine Room programme, which provides Cornish start-up and existing businesses with free social enterprise support. The Engine Room programme is supported by partners RIO, Cornwall College, Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change and Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs.

MP Rob Wilson then travelled to Plymouth where he spent time visiting other social enterprises.

His visit highlights the increasing importance of social enterprise in the South West, and profiles Plymouth as a social enterprise city.
