RIO are delighted to announce that the organisation has been shortlisted in the Medium business of the year category at the first ever Plymouth and Devon Chamber Awards 2015.
‘RIO has been instrumental in the regeneration of Devonport, acting as the catalyst for the economic development in the area. RIO has also long championed the rise of social enterprise in Plymouth, resulting in the city being named the UK’s First Social Enterprise City in September 2013, by Social Enterprise UK. RIO’s next regeneration project in the city is Devonport Market Hall, where it will turn a derelict shell of a building from the 1850s into a digital creative hub, partnering with key organisations including Plymouth City Council, Plymouth University, City College and Devonport High School for Boys as well as a number of digital and creative SMEs who will become tenants of the building once open. RIO proves that doing good business has the power to do good way beyond the boundaries of its own operation.’
The awards are held at the National Marine Aquarium on the evening of Friday 18th September 2015. It is set to be a fantastic night to celebrate the successes of Chamber member businesses across Plymouth and Devon, recognise businesses who have made a positive contribution to the local business community and have been active members of the Chamber of Commerce.
