A group of ambitious social entrepreneurs are running two ‘Meet the Entrepreneurs’ events on Saturday 13th December and Saturday 24th January, giving people the chance to find out the inspiration behind their different social enterprises, and also giving these entrepreneurs the chance to showcase their achievements, the result of a lot of hard work and determination.
The ‘Meet the Entrepreneurs’ events are being held at No. 26, RIO’s social enterprise hub in Liskeard, between 11am and 2pm. Meet the brains behind their ideas and find out how they will work to tackle their social or environmental issue.
Get Your Life Back – offering emotional, psychological and practical support to women and girls suffering severe and debilitating symptoms of hormonal conditions and their families and friends, set up by mother and daughter who know what it’s like – they’ve been there!
Shorelander – an enterprise started by two guys who met on a course for the unemployed and together want to offer training opportunities around converting to 12V, an environmentally friendly power choice!
TWISP Networks – Calstock Community Broadband project.
Sameera Salt – a social entrepreneur from Yemen who wants to raise funds for the Kamal Cultural Social Institute – which transforms the lives of women and children.
RIO has been working with these entrepreneurs through an accredited learning programme which teaches essential employability skills and also saw the participants gain a Gold Social Enterprise Qualification, an international qualification developed by RIO in partnership with SFEDI awards which accredits social enterprise learning.
