Plymouth Social Club presents: Fully Automated Luxury Communism

28th September @ 6:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Free – £5

Join us in conversation with Aaron Bastani and Marcy Saude, for the inaugural Plymouth Social Club. We will be discussing Aaron’s debut book Fully Automated Luxury Communism. The book raises questions such as WTF are we going to do about:

  • Asteroid mining and space colonisation 🚀
  • Automation and the future of work 🤖
  • Climate breakdown and resource depletion 🌳
  • Luxury, abundance and living the good life

The book’s claim is that like in Terminator 2, the future is not yet written. It could be utopia, if we want it.

Aaron Bastani is co-founder of Novara Media. The event will be hosted by Marcy Saude, who is an artist with a research interest in science fiction, utopia and dystopia, and radical politics.

Tickets are £5, but we understand not everyone who might wish to attend can afford this. So we are keen to give free tickets to those who need them, and that option is given via the ticket page.

We aim to start discussion at no later than 19:15. There will also be affordable food and a bar, and we will be rounding off the evening with a special guest DJ.

Plymouth Social Club hosts regular gatherings that explore the future and how we can get there together.
