Introducing Digital Badges for Informal Educators

  • Date: 23rd September, 2020
  • Venue: Online events
Digital badges are here! These clever digital credentials are the future
of skills recognition. They are wonderful little nuggets of achievement
and experience that exist digitally and can recognise all sorts of
informal learning delivered by arts and cultural organisations,
community groups and more. If it happens and is worthy of praise, it can
be badged!

Already popular in the world of work, digital badges are now available
for organisations across the south west to recognise and accredit the
informal learning of young people 14+ and positively engage them. Using
digital badges can link young people into future thinking and offer
valuable evidence to support progression to further education,
employment or training. They are flexible, industry recognised
credentials that can be integrated into a person's CV, built into
application forms and used to create genuine credibility in any
professional environment, from a construction site to a care home.

Real Ideas is the lead Cities of Learning organisation for the south
west and this webinar launches our support for informal educators
across the region who want to develop their own bespoke badges in order
to help young people recognise their skills and potential.

The webinar is hosted by Real Ideas Programme Leads Ed Hart and Gary
Futcher and features contributions from organisations who have already
successfully introduced badging.

Designed as a find out more event, it
will provide an overview of the world of badging, the commitment
required, the support available and an opportunity to respond to
questions. It is followed by a series of monthly bookable workshops that
will provide all the support and training required for organisations to
design, publish and award their very own digital badges.

This webinar is free as is initial workshop training and support for up
to two members of staff (normal cost £400).
