About Joanne Dorothea-Smith
Joanne Dorothea-Smith is a conceptual photographic artist and teacher of photography, she works at Plymouth College of Art and is a community educator in Devon and Cornwall. Her personal work is an interpretation of place at different points in time. Working primarily with the land she excavates these spaces using photography, historical and scientific data and embodied practices of writing and exploration. These intersections of experience and memory make for an aggregated practice that includes Photography, archives, moving image, sound and writing. Dorothea-Smith uses these forms and narratives to re-form her found descriptions of reality.
