Future Make Holiday Club, Ocean Studios – 12/08-16/08
12th August - 16th August£35 – £150
RIO presents: Future Make, our series of groundbreaking programmes and projects designed for 7-11-year olds.
As part of the Illuminate programme, Ocean Studios will be hosting a season of Future Make activity where participants get a taste of the future: flying drones, designing tech, creating digital immersive experiences and engineering extreme structures. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, try out new ideas and – above all – have an awesome time.
We live in the age of the fourth industrial revolution. The tools, resources and technology available to us to make a better world are unprecedented, and Future Make is designed to give your child a taste of that future: to inspire them as a designer, maker, creator and engineer.
Participation in “Battle for the Future” is dependent on having attended at least one Future Make holiday activity day or having been part of a 10-week Future Make club. Children need to bring a packed lunch. Parents are welcome to come early for pick-up and watch some of the afternoon activity, but this is a fully supervised activity with all the necessary safeguards in place for you to drop your child and enjoy the rest of the day!
12 Aug, 9:00am – 4:00pm
You will be an engineer, designing and building your own unique structures and landscapes of the future.
Remote Operators (Drones, RC Cars, Buggies)
13 Aug, 9:00am – 4:00pm
What does it take to operate exciting remote technologies in order to capture footage of the future? (Involves plenty of drone flying and extreme fun!)
Immersive Media Creators
14 Aug, 9:00am – 4:00pm
Participants will become digital designers, creating unique immersive experiences through animation, digital mapping, sound design and projection.
15 Aug, 9:00am – 4:00pm
You will be a designer in the ‘ideas factory’, finding out about the creative potential of technology for good – and coming up with your own exciting ideas for the future.
Battle for the Future
16 Aug, 9:00am – 4:00pm
Participants will apply all they have learnt and explored in previous Future Make activity to take on a challenge designed exclusively for them!
These sessions are part of the iMayflower project, and have been supported by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, which is administered by Arts Council England.
