We support schools to take learning outside of the classroom, to overcome the practical, pedagogical and perceived problems of learning outside.
We support teachers to plan and develop exciting learning that uses their outdoor environment, connects with their local green spaces and builds on partnerships with organisations, sectors and companies associated to the outdoors.
Whether that’s turning your schools into a conservation site, battling with how to take the content of the new national curriculum out of the classroom or Develop a robust and functioning market garden on site. We can support, connect and inspire.
RIO is currently delivering the Natural Connections programme in Torbay. The Natural Connections Demonstration Project funded by DEFRA, Natural England and English Heritage, and contracted to Plymouth University, is one of the largest outdoor learning projects in the UK. We aim to significantly increase the number of school aged children experiencing the full range of benefits that come from learning in natural environments.
