Business is our business

None of us need reminding of how tough the current crisis is for business. However, with creativity, agility and entrepreneurialism, there are still opportunities, with plenty of work to do.

Social and creative enterprise is firmly rooted in the knowledge of economy, and while we might not be able to sell weddings, coffees or cakes for the time being, there is still plenty of demand for our ideas and minds.

A swift change

As our work with young people and families has swiftly stepped-up online, so has our work to support businesses and enterprise. In addition to the first, well received forays online, our ‘Empowering Places’ programme (community business support) and ‘Enrich’ (parks programme), continue uninhibited.

A wave of commissioning, planning and contracting – supporting ongoing work, as well as elements of crisis management, are forging ahead.

Starting new projects to transform spaces

We are delighted to be working with Into Bodmin on a new contract to develop a purchase plan for the old Library. This ties in nicely with our work to transform Liskeard Library into a contemporary library, making it an engaging, modern space that’s open to everyone.

Completing projects from afar

Notably this week sees the completion of Billy Ruffian’s Brew Co. six-month spinout process, securing their last bit of licencing registration with the Alcohol Wholesale Retail Scheme.

Our commercial work also continues apace, with the completion of work on Trowbridge Town Hall’s business plan, ongoing work with the Globe Hotel in Great Torrington. Amazing stuff!

When creativity, community, social enterprise, buildings, parks and Real Ideas are our business – business can be good!
