Our Work

These beliefs manifest themselves in a range of ways and explain why there are different but related strands to our work:
  • We work with schools to develop curricula and approaches to learning that are real and impactful, and support them to find ways of operating and organising that are more socially enterprising.
  • We are developing ways to scale and sustain our work and impact – the Holy Grail of social enterprises - and make it structural and systemic. For example, the Social Enterprise Qualification provides a way for every young person to be a social entrepreneur and make positive change happen in their own life and their school, youth group and community.
  • We are committed to innovation and new forms of public service delivery, particularly ways that social enterprise can enhance effectiveness and efficiency compared with traditional public sector or purely private sector approaches. For example, Devonport Guildhall, is our social enterprise centre in Plymouth, committed to providing for and supporting the development of the Devonport Community.
  • We create real and meaningful jobs and work for young people, but want to create loads more. We work in some of the most disadvantaged parts of the UK, including Cornwall, and at the current time there is a massive shortage of good quality work for school leavers. Check out XtraVert, our skateboarding carpenters, as an example.

We are an open, inquisitive and innovative organisation, and if these ideas chime with you, or you want to discuss anything we touch on here in more detail do get in touch.
