“Just today I’ve met Brett Harvey who I have fantasised about meeting for quite a while.

Interested in filmmaking and technology, Martin’s potential was spotted when he was 14, presenting a film he’d made as part of a school competition. The Real Ideas Organisation gave him the opportunity to get more valuable media and new media experience through the Creative Partnerships programme in his school, followed by a work placement with online TV channel, Chew TV.

But Martin was hungry for more and during his placement with Chew TV his technological know-how caught our eye. With support and mentoring from the RIO team he started helping us out with our IT needs and the rest is history.

Now 18, Martin works three days a week as our IT wizard. He will soon be graduating from further education and is set to work his computer magic with us full time from this summer. Martin’s run-in with the Real Ideas Organisation four years ago, and the range of support we have been able to provide for him since, has helped him identify and develop his own career.

And all because we saw his spark in a school competition. Sometimes, keeping a well-trained eye out can lead to all sorts exciting new possibilities.
