Otterham School

"The best thing about Change School was making myself into hybrid sea creatures because it was funny and we are going to create amazing stories about them for literacy!"
Georgie, Year 6

"I think it's really changed the attitude of the whole school.  All different classes have worked together and swapped their ideas to make films and digital pictures."
Jack, Year 6

"I liked making the music best.  It was funny making the angry and swirl whirly sea.  We kept singing it again and again!"
Amber, Key Stage 1

"I got to make all my characters from my literacy lessons- I felt really excited and proud when I saw them dance!"
Perryn, Year 3

Pupils from Otterham talking about working with the Real Ideas Organisation. The school wanted to improve literacy levels, so through the Creative Partnerships Change School programme we introduced a series of projects to make writing an exciting experience, bringing in artists, filmmakers, animators and real life experiences to enrich the learning process.

And it wasn’t just the children that felt the difference, by working with the creative practitioners the school’s staff have learnt new skills and approaches to engage their pupils with writing in interesting new ways.

Find out how the work we do helps other schools and young people make positive changes.
