RIO's Create Your Future is an innovative programme supporting people in Cornwall back into employment using the creative industries as a launch pad.
It is funded by investment from the European Social Fund through Jobcentre Plus. RIO is one of nine leading social enterprises working in partnership with Cornwall Council through Cornwall Works for Social Enterprise. Create Your Future works closely with individuals looking to work in the creative industries, become self employed or start a creative business as well as those who would benefit from drawing on the methodology of the creative industries to build their confidence and resourcefulness; growing transferable skills that will enable them to seek work beyond the creative sector.
The key to Create Your Future's success is our dedicated team of expert mentors that work hard to understand individual clients' needs, listening to their issues and then working with them as equals to create individual pathways which help them to move forward.
Working together our mentors and their clients find realistic and lasting solutions to problems they have idenitifed. We are friendly, encouraging and hold a wide range of skills and knowledge that we are able to deploy for the benefit of our individual clients. Our wide reaching network and connections link our clients into the creative industries so that through work experience, job placements, mentorships and training they are able to draw on opportunities, realise hidden talents and ultimately benefit from and feed into the local creative economy.
Create Your Future mentors work flexibly so that they can truly caters for individual needs, getting to the root of the problem by helping them overcome the barriers they have identified one step at a time.
Whether its providing equipment, paying for specific training, supporting them through counselling, organising work experience, helping with funding applications, or just buying them an alarm clock and a mattress to ensure they get a good night's sleep and make it to interviews on time, our mentors really get to know each individual and do everything possible to help them make change happen for themselves.
