WHAT WE DID: February 2010/ January 2011
As a Community Interest Company, RIO’s focus is on working with children, young people and communities.
In 2010/11 our activity was concentrated around the South West of England, with particular emphasis on statistically defined areas of ‘disadvantage.’
Through ongoing government funding we continued to deliver the Creative Partnerships programme, working with most local authorities across the region to develop real, purposeful learning in schools.
Alongside this we developed our own range of products, programmes and services that helped children and young people make change happen, particularly around social enterprise skills and approaches.
These included three distinct development services:
• Supporting Schools to Innovate and Improve
• Building Job Opportunities for pre-NEETS, NEETS and the Unemployed
• Strengthening Community Culture
And seven social enterprise business units:
• XtraVert
• Sea4Life
• Social Enterprise Qualification
