  • Food for the Future

Food for the Future is a new RIO project funded for three years by the Big Lottery Local Food initiative.

Working with national partners the Soil Association, and locally with Plan-it Earth, the project will grow and supply organic vegetables to the local community, while working with five schools to create ‘food hubs’ as outlets for the weekly vegetable box scheme.

Food for the Future will create links with other producers and build relationships with restaurants and businesses to develop new markets, as well as creating educational opportunities for the school communities involved, so they can learn about growing food, eating locally and supporting local enterprises.

Throughout the course of the project RIO will be offering trainee positions and workshops to ensure Food for the Future develops and enhances the local food culture, while simultaneously creating a sustainable social enterprise venture.

  • Create Your Future

Create Your Future is a pioneering programme which supports people in Cornwall back into employment using the creative industries as a launch pad. RIO is one of nine leading social enterprises working in partnership with Cornwall Council through Cornwall Works for Social Enterprise. Create Your Future works closely with individuals looking to work in the creative industries, become self employed or start a creative business as well as those who would benefit from drawing on the methodology of the creative industries to build their confidence and resourcefulness; growing transferable skills that will enable them to seek work beyond the creative sector.

The key to Create Your Future's success is our dedicated team of expert mentors that work hard to understand individual clients' needs, listening to their issues and then working with them as equals to create individual pathways which help them to move forward.

Since launching, Create Your Future, has provided support for 235 unemployed people to get into employment in Cornwall. Over the last 18 months we have exceeded our target and taken on 231 clients, 135 of whom we have already into employment.

  • Freestyle: Add Venture
