Back in December, I met with Carol Henwood and Carol Pothecary from Plymouth City Council’s Children and Young People’s Services to get RIO’s Devonport Guildhall validated to become a learning destination for the Children’s University in Plymouth.
The Children’s University is a national organisation that provides 7-14 year olds with exciting and innovative learning activities after school, at weekends and during holidays.
The great news is that we passed the validation process, which means that when RIO holds any activities for young people at the Devonport Guildhall – which we often do – the young people involved can get their ‘passport to learning’ stamped.
Over time young peope can collect passport hours at any Children's University validated events, which then convert to bronze, silver or gold Children’s University ‘undergraduate’ certificates.
We’re starting to build up our schedule of Devonport Guildhall activities for young people in 2012, all of which qualify for the Children’s University passport scheme and all of which can earn young people hours to tot up towards their certificates.
More news on Children's University activities soon...
